Boo hoo, Joel Madden Beat Me Up

I love how the paparazzi stalk celebrities, invade their personal space on a daily basis, try to provoke unflattering reactions to get better pictures, and then cry like little babies when they get roughed up in the process. The other day James Blunt ran over the foot of a photographer who wouldn’t get out of the way of his car (reportedly going a whoopingly dangerous 2 mph). Today, is reporting that Joel Madden (lead singer of Good Charlotte, and boyfriend/rumored fiancée of Nicole Richie) struck a female paparazzo. Or, in their words, “battered” her.

“According to police sources, the woman claimed Madden struck her on the left breast ‘with the heel of his hand’ as the rocker tried to escort his girlfriend, Nicole Richie, out of the back door of Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills. The photographer told TMZ that she has a welt to prove it, and had to see a doctor for treatment. Madden can be seen throwing a forceful, open-handed stiff-arm into the chest of another paparazzo, moments after the alleged incident.”

Video of the “alleged incident” is here , but you can’t see Joel strike any ladies. What you can see is a throng of photographers so thick that they block out the video camera. And that man that Joel threw a “forceful, stiff arm” into? He was blocking the car door, after Joel told him to get out of the way. Now believe me, I have no love for Joel and Nicole (hey that rhymes! Cute!). But I have to side with them on this. How hard to you have to hit someone to cause a welt on their boob? I’d say hard enough to wear they couldn’t do it just in passing. And also hard enough to where people would have noticed, and caused a scene right then and there. Not to mention the fact that we all know Joel Madden hits like a girl. Don’t believe me? Check this out.

  1. I think it should be legal for celebrities to hit the paparazi with any form of weapon (hand, bat, car, etc.) if they are being hounded and maybe these people will back off a little. I know they’re public figures and whether they deserve the attention or not (ie. Paris Hilton) the paparazi have gotten rediculously out of control!
